The North Shore of Oahu is best known for its quiet countryside setting and secluded beaches. Popular activities include surfing, hiking, snorkeling/scuba, cliff jumping, horseback riding and cruising the bike trails.  There are restaurants and shopping in the Historic Haleiwa Town located about 5 miles west from the house. Also you can head east a few miles to the Turtle Bay Resort for a change of pace at the pool bar or Lei Lei's restaurant.  Honolulu is just a 45 minute drive from the North Shore Countryside.

Wiamea Valley and Waterfall is located on the North Shore of Oahu, set slightly inland in a tropical forest. This is a commercial park with shuttle buses taking people up the valley to the areas most scenic attraction, Waimea Falls.  Forest trails for hiking are excellent and are very peaceful and lush with native plants, flowers and trees.  For novice hikers there is a paved road to the top, for the more advanced there is a trail through the hillside. If after that your up for some more challeging hikes here is a good start.

Snorkeling/Scuba  Sharks Cove has been rated by Scuba Diving Magazine as one of the "Top Twelve Shore Dives in the World".  Located on Oahu's world famous North Shore, this small rocky bay forms part of Pupukea Beach Park and boasts blue water and an impressive amount of sea life.  The bottom is made up of large smooth boulders and coral heads forming small caves and ledges for marine life to hide.  The walls of the surrounding cliffs provide calmer water attracting schooling surface fish. On the south side of Sharks Cove is the Pupukea tide pools; a great place to wade and explore.
